|
|
Eeek! My therapist is encouraging me to inform my pediatrician of the abuse and possible rape (long story- I was six at the time, so my memories are unclear and I'm not sure if it happened or not) that I experienced. I'm not sure why I should tell her, seeing as I have no health issues related the abuse/rape(?). I did a little when I was younger, but that's all over and done with. Plus I'm terrified of talking to her!!! Also, part of me is scared I'll have to go through a pelvic exam or something, which would bring back all kinds of nasty memories and feelings, and furthermore would possibly prove that it really happened (something I'm still not sure of). Should I do it? Any advice? |

wow, i personally would not do it. I don't see the reason for it. i mean i guess it depends on how old you are? what did you therapist say was the reason? _________________ Parched. dry. i run-

Heh. She said if I was determined to find out whether or not I'd been raped, it might be worth talking to a doctor. I responded saying I wasn't really that determined... and she let it be. |

hmm.. something tells me you want to know, but you're scared. You have a right to both, wanting to know and to being scared.

It's ok.... it is scary, but you're strong and once you know either way, you can work on healing whatever issues the answer brings up. But if you simply aren't ready right now, that is ok too, but that doesn't mean you don't want to know, just means you are protecting yourself until you are ready for it.
